Australian Customs - Tariff Precedent Changes
Australian Customs and Border Protection Service
are currently undertaking a review of Tariff
Precedents. The main principles behind the
design of the new system are as follows :

advice must be freely and readily available;

there is
clear policy and guidelines on the use of
the advice;

the
relevancy, accuracy and quality of the
advice is paramount; and

Customs
and Border Protection and users have clear
avenues of communication.
A Notice of Intent regarding the removal and
replacement of precedent and an example of a
replacement precedent has been provided by
Australian Customs for your information.
